The 'New' Breakfast of Champions

 In today's blog, I share with you a new way of looking at the Breakfast Of Champions.  It used to be Wheaties, the cereal, but now it's been upgraded to a special type of breakfast sandwich.

I promise you make this sandwich a part of your diet and you are on your way to great things.

The obstacles you face in your life do make you stronger, so let's start eating them for breakfast.

Hi and welcome to Philosopher Insights. My name is Herb Lamba.

Today, I wanted to talk about the Breakfast of Champions, but we're going to create a different type of breakfast sandwich.  You all know about the breakfast of champions, the cereal from 1980's I think, or even before that... They used to have pictures of Muhammad Ali and Jesse Owens on it. We want to create a different type of 'Breakfast of Champions.'

We're going to create a breakfast sandwich with some different ingredients, ingredients that are going to help you optimize and improve your life. So let's start with the meat of the sandwich. The meat of the sandwich is going to be the obstacle in your life. So I want you to think about one major obstacle you're facing today.

That's the meat of the sandwich. We're going to surround the meat with two pieces of bread. The first one, the top layer is going to be the wisdom -  all the things that you've learned, all the life experiences that you bring to that obstacle, all the courses you've taken that make up the wisdom that you have to apply to this obstacle.

And on the bottom, a very important piece of bread, which is self-mastery, because part of the problem is knowing what to do - the second part of the problem is actually going from theory to practice and putting things into practice as part of the self-mastery. What we learn, we apply, we get better and better and better each and every day and we're bringing that new level of self-mastery to our new obstacles.

So now you've got a pretty healthy sandwich, you've got obstacles in the middle surrounded by wisdom and self-mastery, but it's still a pretty dry sandwich. It's like a sandwich with no ketchup, no mayonnaise, no mustard, we need to add some condiments. So let's add on this sandwich.

Let's spray it with a little bit of virtue... The virtues that matter to you.   What we ultimately want to do is live with virtue and express the virtues that matter to us. So as an example, what if you sprayed a little bit of courage on that sandwich and now you bring courage to every obstacle that you face? What if you sprayed a little hope on that sandwich? Sprinkle a little hope on there knowing that I have hope for a better future.

And then when I look at the obstacle, I know if I overcome the obstacle I still have hope going forward. I need to overcome that obstacle to get better. I need to overcome that obstacle to achieve whatever it is I'm trying to achieve.

What about gratitude? Be grateful that you even have the opportunity to tackle this obstacle... Because you know, as we've talked about before, every single obstacle in life is going to make you stronger.

We talked about O. M. M. S (OMMS) -  Obstacles make you stronger, make me stronger. So just remember to bring gratitude to the obstacles and then look at the specific virtues that matter to you and start applying them to the sandwich so that your sandwich is as tasty as can be, and those obstacles become easier to bear.

That is what I describe as the breakfast of champions. It's the new breakfast sandwich you can use to overcome the challenges you face in life today...
