Have you taken your TRIP TO HELL yet?

Life’s Biggest Regrets...A Trip to Hell

I am sharing this in hopes of encouraging others to reflect on their own lives.   If COVID has taught the entire world one lesson, I believe it was that life is short and should never be taken for granted.  Nobody is promised a tomorrow.

In 2019, I was asked to try a reflective exercise called ‘A TRIP TO HELL’. This seemingly insignificant exercise changed my entire perspective about life.  I chose to share today because my hope is it may have the same impact on others.

Sit in a quiet place and simply fast-forward your life to your very last day on earth.  You are lying on your deathbed and there is nothing more that can be done for you.  You are surrounded by family, and at the entrance to the hospital room, you notice a radiant person who is well-dressed, smiling, and from all outward appearances enjoying life.  However, you cannot make out who that is from a distance,  but you are certain they are not part of your family.

As they approach your bed, you suddenly recognize this radiant person walking energetically towards you  - this radiantly alive person is the person you could have been had you lived your life with more courage, taken more chances, decided to pursue that dream that is embedded in your heart, been more loving to those that matter most to you, cared less about what others thought of you and leveraged your true gifts to make the world a better place.

That’s right – on your final day on earth, you are introduced to the best version of YOU.

You ended up in this position because you chose not to reflect on this while you still had the chance to change the outcome.  You chose fear over courage.  You opted for resentment over gratitude.  You prioritized ego over authenticity.

In some cruel way, on the final page of the final chapter of your life story, you are granted the opportunity to meet the person you could have become.

What if you meet that person and it turns out that you are complete strangers?  The person you could have been and the person you are on that final day are so dissimilar that you fail to recognize the best version of you.

That is the equivalent to …. A TRIP TO HELL!

You get one shot at this life, there are no do-overs.  Reflect on this now and start making the changes needed so that...when you reach the end of your life, the person you are on that final day and the radiant best version of you are identical twins.

Thanks
